Water is our most important resource. Some standard facts about water that you will see on many other websites are listed below;
Nearly 97% of the world’s water is salty or otherwise undrinkable.
The average human body is made of 55 to 65 percent water.
Approximately 400 billion gallons of water are used in the United States per day.
In one year, the average American residence uses over 100,000 gallons (indoors and outside).
So what can we do to protect our most precious resource? Here are some tips.
Limit your time in the shower. Shower heads are rated for 23 gpm which means that every 1 minute you are in the shower, you use 23 gallons of water. That water then has to be treated or dumped and cannot be used again.
Urinate in the sink. If you can, pee in the sink. Most high effeicnicy toilets are rated for 1.6 gallons every flush. Think of how much you can save if you were to pee in the sink and quickly rinse it down.
Replace old or leaky fixtures. This is a no brainer. I know money may be an issue but try to focus on some low hanging fruit at this point. Maybe you just need to replace the filter on the faucet.
That is all for now. To remotely monitor your meter in Texas, request a solution from Remoso Labs.
